Alexander Bublik v Filip Krajinovic Head to Head
Their only previous meeting came in the semifinal of the 2022 Montpellier Open and Bublik had won that in straight sets.

Not too long ago in 2022, Bublik had won the Montpellier Open and was also ranked 30th in the world. Fast forward to 2023 and things seem to have gone haywire for Bublik.
The Kazakh is yet to win a match in any kind of tennis competition this season and has notched up eight losses to go with that. He has featured in six tournaments including the United Cup and Davis Cup for his country but his best showing came in the Australian Open where he managed to take Alejandro Davidovich Fokina to the fifth set.
Other than that, Bublik has won three sets and enters this tournament on the back of successive opening defeats in the first round of the Montpellier Open and Rotterdam Open, two other indoor tournaments.
He does play an opponent who has won a couple of rounds this season but is ranked lower than Bublik. Can he leverage that to turn his season around?

Krajinovic Coming off Montpellier Second Round
It was a decent beginning for Krajinovic this year as he toppled Sumit Nagal and Michael Mmoh in the first two rounds of the Pune Open to reach the quarterfinal. He went down to Benjamin Bonzi in the last eight stage but not before he had given his French opponent a push.
That’s what he couldn’t do to Holger Rune in the first round of the Australian Open but came back to win his first match in Montpellier. In that match, Krajinovic overturned a first set deficit to usurp Aslan Karatsev.
And while Krajinovic did not last too long after that, falling to Lorenzo Sonego in the second round, he will be in a better frame of mind than his opponent here.
The only question is whether he will be able to continue to exert that hold over Bublik, the one that all his opponents have had this season.

Despite his results this season, it’s interesting to note that Bublik still starts off a favourite in this one. We will have to go with Bublik – he is due a win for sure.
