Bellucci’s Retirement Match

Thomas Belucci is pretty much retired at this point as the Brazilian hasn’t played since September of last year. He was a really strong player a long time ago but now at age 35, he will formally call it quits after this event. It’s mostly likely after this match because nobody really expects him to win it.

Belucci had a solid career overall but these past few years have been mostly rough. He had a 7-10 record last year and a 2-17 record the previous year. The number of matches clearly shows that he hasn’t been playing that much, to begin with, but this is a chance to celebrate him.

He’ll give a decent effort but it’s unlikely he will able to do much against a player who recently lifted yet another trophy on clay.

The last year he had ap positive record on clay was in 2018 and that’s a long time ago.

Baez Cruising in 2023

Sebastian Baez is having a really good start to the year and he’s enjoying his time in South America especially. He’s a strong clay court player, maybe one of the best on the tour right now. He had over 50 wins on the surface two years ago and won 26 matches last year.

This year it’s 4-1 out of a 4-4 record overall so you can see that most of his wins came on clay. That will be a trend throughout his career as his game is superbly tailored to these types of conditions. It’s his second time in Brazil and he’s likely to improve upon last year when he lost in the first round.

Once again he’s facing a Brazilian but unlike Thiago Monteiro last year, this one is here to retire and likely won’t cause too much trouble for him.

It’s widely expected that he wins in straight sets and the odds reflect that.

Bellucci v Baez Prediction and Tip

This matchup is one that Baez will most likely win easily but extracting much value out of any bet will be tricky. Some suggestions below.
