Jiri Lehecka v Emil Ruusuvuori Head to Head

There have been two previous meetings and both of them came last year – in Metz and in Stockholm. Both were won by Ruusuvuori, and in straight sets.

Lehecka 11-3 after Dzumhur Win

He has played in the qualifiers of events and in the Davis Cup too and including all of that, Lehecka has won 11 of the 14 matches he has been a part of.

The 11th of those wins came against Damir Dzumhur in the first round of this competition and like has been the case this season, Lehecka was able to absorb the pressure from challenging phases in the encounter and still come through in straight sets.

Lehecka was on court for an hour and a half as he got past Dzumhur 6-3, 7-6 (3) to make it to the second round.

Slamming seven aces and overcoming two breaks of serves, Lehecka won another opening encounter as he followed up his strong showing at the Australian Open and twin singles wins at the Davis Cup to add to his wins kitty.

Can he now make it his fourth win in a row?

Ruusuvuori Blasts Past Evans

Ruusuvuori had entered this match on the back of successive defeats on the ATP Tour and was going up against a higher-ranked but struggling Dan Evans. The bookmakers had both of them pegged at 10/11 to win it, so close was the contest.

It was Ruusuvuori who came through in the end, winning in straight sets in an hour and 49 minutes.

The first was the tougher of two for Ruusuvuori who was broken twice but both times there was a break of serve for him too either before or after suffering that fate. In the end, it was Evans who dropped his serve at 5-6 to concede the opening set.

In the second, the match hung in balance till the very end with neither player getting any breaks till the 10th game. In fact Ruusuvuori didn’t allow any break-points to his opponent either while himself missing out on four chances.

It was off the fifth he managed to get past the Evans serve and with that, won the match.

Lehecka v Ruusuvuori Prediction and Tip

Lehecka’s form is too delicious to ignore him for this one and we reckon he looks set to break into the top 50 again. Expecting a straight-set win for the Czech.
