Will Hurkacz Bounce Back from Rotterdam?

With news that Holger Rune pulled out from Marseille, Hubert Hurkacz rose up a spot to take the top seed at the tournament. And historically, it bodes well for the Pole when he is seeded this high.

Hurkacz won a title in Metz a couple of years ago as the top seed, so could a return to Marseille kickstart his season?

So far it’s been a good start but nothing really spectacular from the Pole. His season started at the United Cup where he was part of the Poland team that lost in the semifinal to the USA.

Quickly enough Hurkacz went to Melbourne and advanced into the second week, but lost to in-form Sebastian Korda in five sets in the fourth round.

The World No. 11 didn’t play again until Rotterdam this past week where he won a high-quality opener against Bautista Augt in three sets. However, his campaign in the Netherlands ended in the second round as he lost to Grigor Dimitrov for the third time in their rivalry.

Riedi Scores Maiden Main Draw Win

Swiss Next Gen star Leandro Riedi recorded his main draw win at Open 13 Provence on Tuesday evening. The 21-year-old upset home favorite Arthur Rinderknech 6-3 6-4 to reach the second round.

Riedi enjoyed a breakthrough run on the ATP Challenger Tour at the end of last season, winning a couple of titles for the first time at that level.

Having begun the year with yet another final, this time in Canberra, it was about time he made an impression on the senior tour.

And what way it was to announce himself as defeated established top 100 player Rinderknech on his home turf. Riedi spent an hour and 22 minutes sending the Frenchman packing.

The youngster served eight aces, and despite landing 51% first serves he managed to tally 74% of points won and saved all four break points on his serve.

Hurkacz v Riedi Prediction and Tip

Riedi is a future star in the making and he is taking giant strides to realize his potential. He should give the top seed a run for his money, but this match, however, should be on Hurkacz’s racket.
