Frances Tiafoe v Jason Kubler Head to Head
They played once and it was last year at the US Open. Tiafoe won a pretty close match in three sets out of which two were tiebreaks.

Frances Tiafoe took on a very tricky player in his first Indian Wells match but the Marcos Giron was passed flawlessly. A win in two simple sets saw Tiafoe show off his athleticism tracking down many balls and outplaying his opponent completely.
Indian Wells is a good surface for Tiafoe. He prefers to play on faster courts but he doesn’t mind the high bounce here as he gives him a chance to get to many balls and he’s very quick.
Equipped with all sorts of weapons including volleys and slices, Tiafoe can make you work for every point and when you add his good serve to it, it’s a nightmare.
Playing on native soil is another thing the American loves to do and some of his best tennis came when he plays in the US. He’ll need to keep the shenanigans on the lower end because Kubler is a serious player who gave him plenty of trouble last year.

Kubler Advances Past Dimitrov
Jason Kubler was somewhat lucky to advance past Grigor Dimitrov because the Bulgarian was on top of him early in this match. The Australian stabilised in the second set keeping his serve and forcing a tiebreak which he ultimately won.
Dimitrov struggled with an injury and ultimately retired giving the Australian a place in the 3rd round. It’s a tricky matchup for him but also one that he could make interesting. They played last year and it was a close match which Tiafoe barely won.
The key for Kubler will be to do what he did against Dimitrov. Keep his serve and try to use any chance you get. It’s likely going to be very few and it’s likely to come in a tiebreak.
If he manages to keep the match close and use one of his chances he might make this interesting. The surface fits Tiafoe better than him though.
Tiafoe v Kubler Prediction and Tip
This is a matchup that Tiafoe should win. He has all the tools to cruise but he will face strong resistance. If he doesn’t put forward some poor performance, I’d expect him to win comfortably.
