Kamilla Rakhimova v Raluca Serban Head to Head
There have been two previous meetings between these players at the lower levels – the 2022 US Open qualifiers last year and an ITF tournament this season. Rakhimova has won both.

Rakhimova’s only main draw win for the season came in Monterrey, where she clinched her opener against heavy favourite Katerina Siniakova after having made it there as a qualifier. She fell in the second round.
And yet, Rakhimova’s maintained her ranking around her career-best thanks to her performances in an ITF competition. She had won the title at the Irapuato ITF tournament in February just before Monterrey Open.
More recently, Rakhimova also featured in a WTA 125 tournament in San Louis Potosi where she reached the second round. It was her first couple of matches on clay and that should give her a bit of an edge over some of the other players in the competition who will kick-start their campaign on the red dirt this week.

Serban Showing Solidity
She might be ranked 161st in the world at the moment but take nothing away from the manner in which Serban has played this season. She didn’t start off that well at the Australian Open qualifiers and lost in the second round of the WTA125 event in Cali but from that point on, she has been spurred on to make things happen.
At an ITF event in Mexico City saw her reach the quarterfinal before Serban made the title-decider of the Irapuato ITF competition in February. It was here she went down to Rakhimova in the final.
Serban then made the semifinal of the Pretoria ITF competition with all of these results coming in hardcourt competitions.
It would be interesting to see how things change for Serban on clay given she is 2-2 on that surface for the season as compared to 9-4 on hardcourts.
Rakhimova v Serban Prediction and Tip
Rakhimova starts a favourite but she is on clay and it’s not her most preferred surface. That should even things out a little which makes the 8/5 on offer for Serban’s win a tempting option.
