Kamilla Rakhimova, currently ranked World No. 90, started well in this year’s Copa Colsanitas with a 7-6(3), 6-3 win over the 155th-ranked Raluca Georgiana Serban of Cyprus.
The Russian has now improved her record of 11-9 this year, highlighting a mixed start.
With just one win from three tournaments, Rakhimova delivered a turnaround in ITF Irapuato, where she won the tournament – beating none other than Serban in the final. That was followed by a round two showing in the Monterrey Open, where she beat Katerina Siniakova in three sets after clearing the qualifiers.
The 21-year-old has some experience with clay, having reached two doubles finals on the WTA circuit. That said, hard turf seems to be her strong suit.

Bouchard Scripting a Comeback
Eugenie Bouchard delivered a tennis masterclass in the opener in Bogota, beating Ylena In-Albon 6-3, 6-2 in an hour and 20 minutes. The Canadian enjoyed a good service game, losing it just twice in the match.
Admittedly, it had been a while since we witnessed a performance like this from her. The last such instant was in the qualifiers of the Ostrava Open in October, beating Dalma Galfi with the same score.
Bouchard was once the World No. 5, but now, she has fallen on tough times at the #325 spot. Injuries, form woes, surgeries – whatever may be the case, she has not played a whole lot of professional tennis since 2018.
It may very well be difficult for the 2014 Wimbledon runner-up to start winning big right off the bat – but the win with In-Albon does inspire confidence. After all, Bouchard is well-experienced and skilled – a few good matches should help her find her rhythm.

Bouchard has a good chance of winning this one, provided she can maintain the tempo from the previous match. Fitness is another thing to watch out for.
