Magda Linette is ranked inside the top 20 even though some would argue that her level has not been worthy of that ranking. She’s been playing on that level since earlier this year though lately it’s not been like that even though Madrid was a good outing.
She’s 14-11 on the year and 2-2 on clay with a solid win in Madrid and then lost to a youngster who she could have beaten. Rome plays a bit differently which should give her a bit more trouble as it’s quite a bit slower than in Madrid.
She’s been decent on clay for years but never great and her top result in Rome (2nd round) kind of proves that. Noskova is a player that can hurt her so she will need to play really well in order to avoid defeat.
She’s capable of it but it will be very hard.

Linda Noskova is a very capable clay player and she proved in the first round beating a tricky player in the first round. Rogers is not great on clay but it takes a good hitting effort to beat her in these slower conditions and she provided that.
Noskova is 14-7 on the year but only 1-1 on the clay which is far away from the 17-5 record she had on the surface last year. It’s mostly because she didn’t play on the surface so far but expect her to pick up a few wins in the coming weeks.
Linette is a player she never faced but she is certainly capable of beating her in these conditions because I do think she has more power from the baseline. She tends to play more aggressively than Linette and I think that could get her the win.
It will be tricky but she has what it takes.
Linette v Noskova Prediction and Tip
I will back Noskova in this one simply because I think she’s in a good spot after beating Rogers in the previous round. She has looked like a better player on clay to me so far.
