Rakhimova, Hard at Work

Kamilla Rakhimova, age 21, has been working hard to gain experience and momentum ahead of the French Open.

She is currently ranked #85 – a career-best ranking for the Russian and is set to start in the Morocco Open with a tally of 17-15 (9-8 on hard courts, 8-7 on clay).

Most recently, she was a quarterfinalist in the Clarins Challenger in Paris, losing to Varvara Gracheva. Her other notable highlight before that was undoubtedly her deep run in the Bogota Open, where she beat Raluka Serban, Eugenie Bouchard, and Sara Sorribes Tormo en route to the semis. She fell in that match to Peyton Stearns.

Earlier in the season, Rakhimova was the champion in ITF Irapuato as well.

At the same time, Kamilla has seen her fair share of early exits – which is understandable – other tournaments like the Italian Open, Madrid Open, Indian Wells Open, San Luis Challenger, and WTA Linz.
