Ćorić Coming off Madrid & Rome Sparkle

Coric had entered the Madrid Masters on the back of five successive defeats including two in the first round of the Monte-Carlo Masters and Banja-Luka Open. Which is why, not too many would have expected things to go the way they did for the Croat in the two clay court tournaments after that.

In Madrid, Coric shocked Hubert Hurkacz and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina on his way to making the semifinal.

This was followed by a quarterfinal appearance at the Rome Masters, overcoming Thiago Monteiro, Roberto Carballes Baena and Fabian Marozsan in that tournament.

Coric, who had returned to full fitness and form last season when he won the Cincinnati Masters title, seems to have proved it wasn’t a one-off result for him. Which is why he would be aiming to better his previous best at the French Open – he has made the third round here four times.

Coria Returns after Injury Layoff

Having won the Concepcion Challenger title in January and then having made the Cordoba Open final in the following month, Coria looked to have gotten an excellent grasp of the situation. He had also hit his career-high ranking of 49th in the world as a result of that.

Since then, however, because of a mixture of bad form and fitness concerns, Coria hasn’t won a match.

He was defeated in the final in Cordoba and followed that up with three successive opening losses.

And in the following match, Coria was down a set against Radu Albot in the first round of the Banja Luka Open when he was forced to retire from the tournament because of an injury.

Since then, this will be the first time he will take to court, having fallen to outside the 90 in the rankings again. Can Coria turn things around?

Ćorić v Coria Prediction and Tip
