Jabeur Rolls Past Bronzetti

Lucia Bronzetti put up a bit of a fight in the first set of her opener against Jabeur but the Tunisian number one proved to be too strong for her opponent in the end.

Jabeur, who has already won a title on clay this season, routed Bronzetti 6-4, 6-1 to make it to the second round of this tournament after having sent packing in the first round last season. She was on court for a mere hour and 11 minutes.

Up two breaks in a jiffy, Jabeur did have some problems at that point when she faced two break-points in the sixth game and was broken back in the eighth. She managed to serve it out in the 10th though.

The second set proved to be a cakewalk though as Jabeur broke Bronzetti four times to finish off any chances.

jabeur will hope to continue in the same vein as she looks to shrug off fitness woes which had caused her to retire from her Stuttgart Open match against Iga Swiatek and cost her an opening round loss to Paula Badosa in Rome.

Dodin Overturns Janicijevic’s Hold

In a match that was remarkably similar to their previous meeting that came about a week ago, Dodin and Janicijevic were involved in a three-set tussle but this time around it was a different result.

When they had met earlier in Strasbourg, it was Dodin who had grabbed the first set only for Janicijevic to come back and win the next two.

Janicijevic looked to be continuing with the same momentum when she bagelled Dodin in the first set here but her opponent retaliated with a strong showing in the next two to claim the second round spot.

The three-setter lasted only an hour and 47 minutes with Dodin winning 0-6, 6-2, 6-1 after breaking her opponent five times in the match.

As it turned out, it was Dodin’s first main draw win for the season having only won a round on the WTA 125 circuit before this. Can she put up a similar display against Jabeur?

Jabeur v Dodin Prediction and Tip

Jabeur should have no real worries too and we expect her to win this in straight sets.

Tips:

  • Low Risk Tip: Jabeur to win in straight sets: 3/10
  • Moderate Risk Tip: Games Handicap Dodin +6.5: 5/6
