Iga Swiatek v Claire Liu Head to Head
They have met twice before with Swiatek winning both the matches. The Pol’s first win came in three sets in Auckland qualifying round in 2019. Her second came this year at Indian Wells, when she dropped just one game during a near-perfect performance against Liu.

Defending champion Iga Swiatek was off to a slow start against Spain’s Cristina Bucșa but she picked up pace as the match progressed and marched into the second round with a straight sets victory on Tuesday.
Swiatek had to come back from a break down twice in the first set as the world no. 70 made a solid start. But a decisive third break in the final game gave Swiatek a one-set-to-love lead.
The world no. 1 was in complete control of things in the second set as she won all six games to claim the contest 6-4, 6-0 in an hour and 13 minutes.
Swiatek, who also won the French Open title in 2020, improved her Roland Garros record to 22-2.
Overall she is 29-6 this season and 13-2 on clay. The 13-time tour-level champion will be disappointed to have won just two titles from four finals this year. The two title came in Doha and Stuttgart, while the runner-up finishes came in Dubai and Madrid.
Against Bucsa in the first round, Swiatek was given a tough fight in the first set, but she dropped just six points (three on serve and three on return) to bagel the Spaniard in the second.
She is expected to get sharper as the tournament progresses.

Claire Liu was off to a wonderful start as well as she defeated qualifier Ylena In-Albon in straight sets.
World no. 102 Liu, who lost in the opening round of the French Open last year, earned her first win on the clay court major n Tuesday as she beat the Swiss player 6-1, 6-4.
It has been a year of struggle for Liu, so the win over In-Albon may have lifted her spirits.
Liu, 23, took the first set with ease and also went up a double break to lead 3-0 in the second set. But In-Albon fought back to draw level. However, her joy didn’t last long as Liu got the decisive third break late in the set to secure a 6-1, 6-4 victory.
Liu is 11-15 from all levels this season and 2 of 5 on clay. Can she pull off the upset of the season on Thursday?
