He is ranked 17th in the world but Musetti had to overcome a slow start against Borna Gojo in the first round to try and register his win.
Musetti saved two break-points in the fourth game and then had a set-point against him on his own serve in the 10th game before claiming the victory in an hour and a half. He made it to the second round with a 7-6 (4), 6-3 scoreline.
In fact, Musetti faced five break-points in the match, much lower than the two that he had but fortunately for him, while he was able to get past his opponent’s serve once in the encounter, he managed to save all five of those.
This follows a 12-9 record on clay for the season which also saw him reach the fourth round at the French Open.
Having never gone past the first round in any grass court competition before this, Musetti will look forward to doubling his win count here.

Barrere Surprises Otte
Oscar Otte is known for his solid serving and one would have thought he held an upper hand in a match on grass against a player ranked 58th in the world.
Instead, Barrere had no difficulties whatsoever in getting past that Otte serve and eased into the second round with a 6-4, 6-3 victory.
Barrere, much like Musetti, saved all the five break-points he faced in his opener and then proceeded to break his opponent on three occasions including once as he served to stay in the match at 3-5 in the second set.
In winning this encounter, Barrere had registered only his second career victory on grass. The first time he had overcome Alexander Bublik in the 2019 Wimbledon after having made the main draw as a qualifier.
