Pavel Kotov v Li Tu Head to Head
This will be their second meeting in as many days between these two players and it was Tu Li who had won in their qualifying round yesterday. Kotov still made it through as a lucky loser.

It’s not been the best of starts for Kotov who had never played on grass before this the start of this season.
The Russian featured in the qualifiers of all the three grass-court seasons this month, losing in the first round at both Rosmalen and Halle. In fact that defeat at Rosmalen at the hands of Edan Leshem was a big shock after Kotov had gone into the match as a 1/4 favourite.
It was in this tournament in Mallorca that Kotov finally won a qualifying round, defeating the veteran Fernando Verdasco. But in the second round, Kotov was put to sword by none other than Tu Li, his opponent in this match.
Kotov lost 7-6 (5), 6-2 and should have crashed out but for a last minute withdrawal from the main draw. He now has a chance to avenge his defeat but can he shrug off the issues he might have faced quickly enough?

Li Tu has never won a main draw match at the highest level having played at that level twice in his career. Now he enters a main draw match having won a couple of qualifiers but more importantly he will face a player in the first round whom he has already defeated less than 24 hours ago.
That gives the Aussie a solid chance of registering his first ever win at the highest level of tennis.
Not that Tu has been in any kind of form at any level of tennis this season. Before coming into this tournament, Tu had a 14-14 win-loss record for the year having struggled on the Challenger circuit as well.
His only success has come on the Futures Tour with Tu Li winning one hardcourt title and reaching the final of another tournament in April.

Kotov is a favourite according to bookmakers but we think this could go right down to the wire this time with a three-setter expected.
