Taylor Fritz v Yannick Hanfmann Head to Head
Their only previous meeting came in Rome earlier this year and rather interestingly, it was Hanfmann who won that encounter.

Fritz Struggling on Grass This Season
For someone who had ended the previous season with a win-loss record of 8-3 on grass that included a sparkling Wimbledon showing with an entry into the quarterfinal there, Fritz’s struggles on this surface this year have been surprising.
The American was forced to feature in all three weeks of the short grass swing and finished with just two wins and three defeats.
What would be a big worry for Fritz is those losses came against players ranked 66th, 43rd and 64th in the world with all three starting out at 5/2 or worse odds in those matches.
Making it doubly surprising is Fritz had come into these tournaments on the back of some solid form. There had been a singles title at the Delray Beach Open but to do with that, the American had also won four of his five singles matches at the United Cup to help his country lift the trophy.
Can he now make a dent into the second week of the Wimbledon 2023?

Hanfmann has been around on the circuit for years now but over the seasons of playing on grass, he had won just two main draw matches on grass.
This year, Hanfmann has changed that around by first adding a third win at the Halle Open and then doubling that count with a Mallorca Open semifinal run. In doing so, Hanfmann overcame Pedro Cachin and Feliciano Lopez and in what was the result of his career, the German stunned Stefanos Tsitsipas in three sets.
The German will enter Wimbledon ranked 44th in the world, his best ranking ever. And he can be expected to add to that if he manages a win or two here.
The trouble is Hanfmann is up against a top-10 player but all things considered it might not be such a bad thing. He has, after all, defeated the world number five last week and will now be up against a player struggling for form on grass.
Fritz v Hanfmann Prediction and Tip
Fritz might be a favourite here at 1/4 but we do think Hanfmann will come into this knowing he can cause a ruffle. He might not win but we don’t see this end in three.
