After a tough start against Tatjana Maria in the first round, it twas a relatively easy second round contest for the world no. 1 Iga Swiatek, who knocked out Jil Teichmann in straight sets to march into her first-ever grass court quarterfinal.
Swiatek, who had to bounce back from a set down to beat Maria in the first round, needed just an hour and 20 minutes to dispatch the Swiss 6-3, 6-1.
Both players held five break points in the match, but while Swiatek saved all five of them, she converted 4 of 5 to knock out the world no. 129.
Swiatek, who is playing her first grass court tournament of the season, improved her season record to 37-6 on Wednesday.
The 14-time tour-level champion has already won three titles from five finals this year. Can she take another step towards a first grass final on Thursday?

Blinkova Takes Down Fernandez
World no. 39 Anna Blinkova has been in good form recently and the Russian continued to build on that with a straight sets defeat of Leylah Fernandez in the second round in Eastbourne.
Broken early by the Canadian, Blinkova broke Fernandez twice to lead 5-4. But the latter broke back immediately to draw level at 5-5. However, Blinkova took the next two games to take a one-set-to-love lead.
The 24-year-old then dominated the second set and broke her opponent twice to seal the match 7-5, 6-2.
Blinkova has played plenty of lower level matches, including qualifiers, on grass courts. But she has not found much success on the surface at the top level.
She is 22-16 across levels this year and reached her second WTA final in Strasbourg last month. But she failed to add to her only title that she won at the Transylvania Open last year, as she went down to Elina Svitolina in the final.
