2021 Wimbledon finalist Karolina Pliskova will begin her 2023 campaign against a qualifier.

Pliskova, who also featured in the U.S. Open final in 2016, had finished runner-up to Ash Barty in the grass court major in 2021.

The Czech player will be making her 11th appearance in the tournament. In addition to the final in 2021, Pliskova has reached the round of 16 twice, while falling in the second round on six occasions, one of those occasions was last year, when she went down to Katie Boulter.

Ranked no. 18th in the world , the 31-year-old is 19-12 this season and that includes five wins in qualifying rounds. Her best this season was a run to the quarterfinals at the Australian Open and also made it to the last eight in Dubai and Stuttgart.

She is 1-2 on grass this season, but has a very string record on the surface. She has played 6 of her 32 finals on grass and has won 3 of her 16 titles on the surface.

She will be hoping to make a bright start.

Natalija Stevanovic is set to make her Grand Slam debut at Wimbledon.

The 28-year-old Serb made it to the main draw with string performances in the qualifying rounds. Stevanovic defeated Greece’s Valentini Grammatikopoulou 6-2, 6-1 in the opening round and then knocked out Elizabeth Mandlik 6-2, 6-2 in the second qualifying round.

Stevanovic then ousted Spain’s Marina Bassols Ribera 7-5, 7-5 in the final qualifying round, to reach the main draw for the first time after falling in the qualifiers at Wimbledon in the past two years.

Ranked no. 223, Stevanovic is 17-17 across levels and had reached the semifinals in one ITF tournament this year. Her best at the tour level was a round of 16 appearance in Bogota.
