Eubanks Coming off Mallorca Final

This will be the first time in the main draw at Wimbledon for Eubanks. The American has never got beyond the qualifying competition before, something he was spared this year because of his world ranking.

In fact, the furthest he has been at any Grand Slam is the second round.

However, although not known as a grass court player, he will step onto court with a renewed spring in his step after reaching his first senior ATP final on the grass of Mallorca, where he is due to play Adrian Mannarino of France.

That run saw him beat two Americans, Alex Michelsen and Ben Shelton, before defeating Arthur Rinderknech in the quarter-finals.

He then showed his fighting qualities to beat Lloyd Harris of South Africa, coming from behind to win the match in a third set tie-break.

Monteiro’s First Grass Court Match This Season

Although Monteiro first competed at Wimbledon in 2016, he has never been further than the second round here.

In fact, he has only reached the third round of any Grand Slam before, and that was in Paris in 2020 on clay, his favourite surface.

And it is on clay that he has chosen to concentrate his efforts this year.

Since losing in the first round of the Australian Open, the only time that he has ventured away from it was for the Masters events in Indian Wells and Miami.

And that means that he has not played any of the warm-up grass tournaments this year.

Instead he was last in action on the Challenger tour in Italy, where he reached the second round.

Eubanks v Monteiro Prediction and Tip

Whilst he has not necessarily thrown in the towel already, Monteiro’s refusal to play in any of the grass court warm-up events is a signal that he may already have written off his chances at Wimbledon.

Eubanks, fresh from his exploits in Mallorca, has an ideal opportunity to break his main draw duck in this tournament.

Tips:

  • Low Risk Tip: Eubanks to win: 5/9
  • Moderate Risk Tip: Under 30.5 games in the match: 5/6
