Maxime Cressy v Laslo Djere Head to Head

The pair have played each other twice before, and the current head to head record is one win apiece.

Cressy won their match at Indian Wells in 2021, but Djere got his revenge on the clay of Monte Carlo a year later.

Cressy Searching for Last Year’s Grass Court Form

Cressy’s only previous appearance at Wimbledon last year ended at the second round stage.

That came six months after reaching the fourth round of the Australian Open, his best performance in a Grand Slam to date.

However, he showed that he could compete on grass last year by reaching the final in Eastbourne, where he lost to Taylor Fritz, and then he won his first ATP title at the Hall of Fame Championship in Newport Beach, beating Alexander Bublik in the final.

So far, this year he has not been able to reproduce that grass court form, losing in the first round of both Rosmalen and the Queen’s Club Championship.

He did, at least, win a match last week in Eastbourne, but his run there was ended at the second round stage by the Chinese player Zhizhen Zhang.

Djere’s Modest Grand Slam Record

Djere has never been beyond the second round at Wimbledon.

Indeed, the Serb’s Grand Slam record is a modest one – the best he has ever managed is a third round appearance at Roland Garros, and that was on clay, his favourite surface.

And it is on clay that he achieved his best result so far this year, reaching the fourth round of the Italian Open.

As part of the warm-up for the Championships this time, he played in both Rosmalen and Halle, reaching the second round each time, before losing in three sets, first to Alex de Minaur, and then to Daniil Medvedev.

More recently, he played in the Hurlingham Club exhibition event, losing to Cameron Norrie in straight sets.

Cressy v Djere Prediction and Tip

Cressy has, so far, been unable to reproduce last year’s grass court form.

For all that, the surface still comes more naturally to him than Djere, who is much happier on clay, and, barring unforeseen circumstances, the American should progress.

Tips:

  • Low Risk Tip: Cressy to win: 5/7
  • Moderate Risk Tip: Over 32.5 games in the match: 5/4
