Jil Teichmann isn’t the most proficient player on grass but with Linette struggling for form in recent times, she wasn’t quite an overwhelming favourite coming into her opening encounter.
Which is why an hour and 23 minutes into the contest, Linette would be feeling rather elated with her stunning display of tennis that saw her win 6-3, 6-2.
After saving an early match set-point, Linette broke Teichmann in the eighth game of the opening set before serving it out in the ninth to take the lead. She went 3-0 ahead with two breaks of serves in the second and while Teichmann showed a bit of a fight by pulling one back in the fourth game, Linette made it three in a row soon after.
Linette finished off the encounter soon after to reach the second round at Wimbledon for the fourth time in a row in her career.
She now has a golden chance of making it to the third round here for just the second time, emulating her previous best at this tournament.

Strycova Wastes No Time against Zanevska
She is 37 years old and ranked outside the top 600 of the WTA Rankings but Strycova had gone into her opening round match at Wimbledon 2023 as a favourite against Maryna Zanevska.
And Strycova managed to live up to those odds as she clinched a 6-1, 7-5 win over Zanevska to seal off her second round berth in her first appearance at Wimbledon since 2019.
Strycova had, in fact, reached the semifinal at Wimbledon the last time she had played and coming back to competitive tennis after being away from it for a bit, the Czech needed just an hour and 23 minutes to grab the win.
Incidentally, this was just Strycova’s second main draw win on tour since 2020 having earlier also beaten the same opponent in Rome this year!

Linette starts off a 1/2 favourite and we will have to go with that but that’s not to say that Strycova won’t put up a fight. Expect her to push Linette to the brink in at least one of the sets
