Keys Downs Kostyuk for 8th Consecutive Win

Madison Keys has been on a tear in the past few weeks. The American arrived in Eastbourne with some mixed results but caught fire at the event beating five players en route to the trophy. The win over Daria Kasatkina in the final broke a dry spell for the American and she’s not looking to stop.

Wins over Sonay Kartal, Viktorija Golubic and now Marta Kotsyuk propelled her into the 4th round of the event and it’s actually her best run in recent years. The American is a very strong player who hits the ball about as cleanly as you can.

Her problem is that generally, she can be all over the place with very little consistency. This is one of her most consistent stretches I can remember in recent memory though I’m not convinced she can keep it up against some of the best.

Facing Andreeva will be tough because she doesn’t know her that well and because the way the Russian play will give Keys a lot of trouble.

Andreeva Stuns Potapova

Mirra Andreeva is something else as the 16-year-old is playing superb tennis right now. This is her first Wimbledon main draw and she’s in the second week booking a spot in the 4th round with a win over Anastasia Potapova.

The teenager had to go through the qualifiers in order to book a spot here but she did that and now added three more wins in the main draw.

It’s been a true revelation because she plays tennis very smartly. There isn’t much power to her shots but she is able to create some amazing angles and pick apart the game of her opponents even if they’re more powerful from the baseline. Being very quick around the court certainly helps and Potapova had a nightmare trying to find a solution.

She posted 20ish winners but also had over 40 unforced errors and that was simply not good enough. It’s a blueprint Andreeva can use against Keys too.

Keys v Andreeva Prediction and Tip

Keys and Potapova play similarly so expect Andreeva to try and bait Keys into missing a lot. She’s not done that much but I expect her to start. I’m not sure I would back the Russian to win but certainly to cover the over.

Tips:

  • Moderate Risk Tip: Over 20.5 games in the match: 5/6
