Dusan Lajovic v Filip Misolic Head to Head

Filip Misolic leads the head-to-head 1-0. The 21-year-old stunned Dusan Lajovic in the quarterfinals of Kitzbuhel 250 last year in three sets.

Lajovic Winless In Five

Dusan Lajovic has been through a rollercoaster ride this season. The first half of the season couldn’t have gone any better for the Serbian veteran who reached three successive quarterfinals during the South American Golden Swing.

Lajovic’s excellent spell on clay culminated in a second career title in Bosnia where he won the inaugural Banja Luka 250, beating countrymen Novak Djokovic and Miomir Kecmanovic en route to the final and stunned Andrey Rublev.

Although he managed to produce a respectable showing in Madrid where he earned another scalp by beating Felix Auger-Aliassime, he has been flat in recent weeks, and has lost in the first round in each of his last four tournaments.

That mini-slump has seen Lajovic lose in the first round of the French Open (retired 1-6, 1-4 down to Zhizhen Zhang), and Wimbledon (lost to British wild card Jan Choinski).

It’s the Serbian’s worst losing run this year, and while he has done a commendable job to lift his ranking closer to the top 50, he needs to start winning again.

Misolic Qualifies In Bizarre Fashion

Filip Misolic couldn’t believe the slice of luck that fell his way on Monday. The Austrian defeated home hope Karl Friberg on Sunday in qualifying to advance to the second stage where he was set to face Damir Dzumhur for a spot in the main draw.

Remarkably, that match never lasted beyond one point as Dzumhur opened up play with a weak serve, but was returned for a clean winner as he watched. Immediately he trudged to the net and called it quits.

There was no indication of any physical ailment during the warm-up, but his marathon three-set win over Francesco Maestrelli which lasted nearly three hours just 24 hours earlier could have had a lasting effect on the Bosnian’s physical well-being.

Misolic was safely through, but this was a one-of-its-kind retirement and not a walkover since play had already started.

The 21-year-old has yet to win on Tour since his eye-catching run to the final in his home tournament in Kitzbuhel last year, where he defeated Dusan Lajovic along the way.

Lajovic v Misolic Prediction and Tip

It almost feels surreal that Misolic has not been in a main draw since his run to the Kitzbuhel final at this time last year. The good thing is that Dusan Lajovic has been poor coming to Bastad. And at 11/10 we reckon the Austrian stands a good chance of taking full advantage of an inconsistent Lajovic.

Tips:

  • Low Risk Tip: Over 19.5 games in the match: 4/11
  • Moderate Risk Tip: Misolic to win: 11/10
