Bautista Agut has been this to this tournament since 2012 having been a part of seven editions before this. In all but the first time he featured here, the Spaniard was at least a part of the second round.

In 2018, he had made the final as well before Matteo Berrettini got the better of him.

This time around, Bautista Agut comes into this tournament with a first round bye in his name which looks like a much-needed respite given what’s gone on in the season for him.

In the six clay-court tournaments that Bautista Agut has played this year, he has won a mere four matches. And in none of those six did he manage to make it past one win.

He will hope to turn things around here but will know that he’s up against a player who loves his time on clay. Not to mention, his opponent is coming off a strong opening performance.

Clay is where Cachin does his best and that can be seen from the fact he’s featured in eight matches across the other two surfaces and won just one match. On grass recently, Cachin took part in two tournaments and didn’t win a set.

He started off here with a first round win over Taro Daniel in a match that lasted a mere hour and 21 minutes.

There was a bit of a fight in the opening set in which he went 0-2 down but once he had levelled things off in the eighth game, there was no looking back. He broke again in the 10th game, and then never allowed his opponent to hold his serve again.

What Cachin will hope for is some better serving against Bautista Agut given it won’t be as easy to get past his serve but he will know he has a chance despite being 65 ranks behind his opponent here.

Bautista Agut v Cachin Prediction and Tip

Bautista Agut is a favourite according to the bookmakers but we think Cachin has an equal chance of making it through on clay and given the current form.

Tips:

  • Low Risk Tip: Over 8.5 games in the first set: 2/5
  • Moderate Risk Tip: Games Handicap Cachin +3.5: 5/6
