In all, Putintseva was broken five times in the match, while she converted half of 14 break points to win the one hour and 55 minute contest 1-6, 6-2, 6-1.

The world no. 88 got an early break in the first set and then held on to the advantage to take the opening set. In the second, Liu broke early once again, but Chirico broke back to level the set at 3-3, but a late break in the set for Liu proved to be decisive as she beat the qualifier 6-4, 6-4.
