Albert Ramos-Vinolas marched into his second final in Gstaad after he took down the second seed Miomir Kecmanovic in straight sets on Saturday.

The 35-year-old, who has been struggling for most parts of the season, made it to his first final of the season with a 6-2, 6-3 win over the Serbian.

Ramos-Vinolas was broken in the very first game of the match but he came back well by breaking Kecmanovic thrice to take a one-set-to-love lead. He continued to dominate in the second set, racing to a 4-0 lead, while the Serbian did break twice in the next three games, but was also broken once during the phase. Eventually, the left-handed Spaniard closed out the match to march into his 12th career final and a first of the season.

The four-time champion had previously won the title in Gstaad in 2019 by beating Cedrik-Marcel Stebe in the final.

His run to the final in this year’s edition included three set wins over Fabio Fognini, Lorenzo Sonego and Juan Pablo Varillas in the first two rounds and the quarterfinals respectively. He would be happy to have finally got a straight sets win in the semifinals. Can he win his fifth career title on Sunday?

World no. 90 Pedro Cachin ended Hamad Medjedovic’s impressive run in the semifinals on Saturday to move into a first ATP final.

Cachin did not face a single break point in the match, while he converted half of the eight that he held to beat the world no. 183, 6-3, 6-1 in an hour and five minutes.

The Argentine has not dropped a set throughout the week. He beat Taro Daniel and top seed Roberto Bautista Agut in the first two rounds respectively and then knocked out Jaume Munar 6-3, 6-3 in the quarterfinal on Friday.

With Saturday’s win over Medjedovic, he improved his season record to 13-18 at the tour level. He has been good on clay across levels this year and featured in the Madrid Challenger final, where he finished runner-up.
