Ruusuvuori Winless For A Month

Emil Ruusuvuori hasn’t won in over 30 days and it’s not for a lack of trying. The Finnish player played a lot of matches since his last victory but things haven’t been going well. His last win came in Den Bosch and since then we’ve seen him lose 5 consecutive matches.

A return to hard courts should theoretically help him because it’s his best surface by far as both grass and clay can be very shaky. He’s been fairly decent this year with a 21-21 record overall. On hard he’s 9-8 but the results mostly speak to his streaky nature.

A tremendous talent on his best day, Ruusuvori goes up and down fairly often. Even during a match, we can see him go from fantastic to rather poor and that’s just a recipe for disaster in tennis.

You need to have consistency in order to become one of the best and plenty of talent. He has the second one but hasn’t yet found the first one.

Lestienne Struggling to Win Matches Too

Much like his opponent, Constant Lestienne also hasn’t won in over a month. His last win came on June 27th in Mallorca and since then it’s been very poor performances. The French player generally has had a rather poor season with only 9 wins and 19 losses.

Hard courts are his best surface but even a return on it last week in Atlanta didn’t do much. He faced compatriot Ugo Humbert and played a competitive match but still lost 6-4 5-7 5-7.

Taking on Ruusuvori will be tough because it’s not a great matchup for him. He’ll need to find ways to outsmart him because he won’t be able to outhit him. They played earlier this year in Indian Wells and Ruusuvuori was winning easily until Lestienne retired.

Atlanta looked better than most of his recent performances so perhaps there is room to feel optimistic.

Ruusuvuori v Lestienne Prediction and Tip

Lestienne will win this match if Ruusuvuori produces a poor effort. Chances for that are literally 50-50 so I’m just going to back the over hoping for three sets.

Tips:

  • Moderate Risk Tip: Over 20.5 games in the match: 5/6
