Laslo Djere has come into the tournament in fine form. The world no. 38 reached his fifth ATP final and a first of this season in Hamburg last week, but he could not add to his two career titles, as he went down to Alexander Zverev in the final.

Thanks to that performance Djere improved to 16-11 on clay this season and that record includes matches played across levels. The Serb was  also a finalist in Cagliari Challenger on clay in May.

Overall, the 28-year-old is 23-18 at the tour level in 2023. He will be making his fourth appearance in Kitzbuhel this year. He produced his best result in 2020, where he was a semifinalist.

Christopher O’Connell has been in decent form this season. The world no. 74 however lost in the first round in Umag last week and will look to put that defeat behind him quickly and return to winning ways in Kitzbuhel.

O’Connell, who will be playing in Kitzbuhel for the first time, is 15-16 at the tour level this year and 23-23 across levels.

The 29-year-old Aussie’s best performances of the season saw him reach the semifinals in Munich and the quarterfinals in Doha, Marrakech, Geneva and Stuttgart. Additionally, he was also a semifinalist in Split Challenger in Croatia.

So clay has been the most productive surface for him this season, where he has an 11-8 record across levels this season.
