Sebastian Ofner v Nuno Borges Head to Head
The pair have never played each other before.
This will be the first match between the 27 year old Austrian, and the Portuguese, who is a year younger.

Ofner has taken advantage of the injury problems that have affected Dominic Thiem in recent years to become the Austrian number one.
Despite having been a pro since 2015, it has been only in the past 18 months that he has risen to prominence with his form on the Challenger tour, where he has appeared in six finals, although the only one of those that he won was on home soil in Salzburg last month.
Although he reached the third round of Wimbledon back in 2017, it would take him five years before he qualified for another Grand Slam, but his fourth round appearance at Roland Garros three months ago was something of an exception to the norm as far as he was concerned.
This will be his first appearance in the main draw of the US Open, though.
He arrives in New York having lost his last three matches, suffering first round defeats in Umag, Kitzbuhel, and, last week, in Winston Salem.

Borges Emerging from Sousa’s Shadow
Like his opponent, Borges has emerged in the past two years, eclipsing the star of Joao Sousa who had been the standard bearer for Portuguese male tennis for many years.
It was only in Paris last year that he made his Grand Slam debut, and he has never been beyond the second round of any of them, the stage that he reached in New York last year.
Although primarily regarded as a clay court player, he demonstrated his ability on hard courts by winning Challenger titles in Mexico and Phoenix earlier this year.
However, his recent record is even poorer than Offner’s and he has not won a match since losing to Andy Murray in Nottingham back in June.
Ofner v Borges Prediction and Tip
This is a match between two men who are still inexperienced at Grand Slam level, and have not been in good form recently.
And, whilst there has to be a winner, it is unlikely to be a classic.
Ofner may start the marginal favourite because of his higher world ranking.
