World no. 12 Frances Tiafoe began his grass court season with a straight sets win over Jiri Lehecka in the second round on Wednesday.
Seeded no. 3 in the tournament, Tiafoe had a first round bye. Against Lehecka in the second round, the American put on a fantastic serving performance, beating the Czech 7-6 (7-4), 6-2 in an hour and 19 minutes.
Tiafoe won 84% first serve points in the match. He was not broken by Lehecka as he saved all three of the break points that he faced. He held just one break point in the match and he capitalised on that to advance to the quarterfinal.
It will be the fifth time when Tiafoe will be competing in the quarterfinal of a tour-level event this year. He had won the Houston title and was a semifinalist in Indian Wells.
Tiafoe has a pretty good record on grass. This is the third time he will be competing in the quarterfinal of a grass court tournament, having reached that stage twice in Queens.

Musetti Marches Into the Quarterfinal
Sixth seed Lorenzo Musetti marched into the quarterfinal in Stuttgart with a straight forward win over Grégoire Barrère in the round of 16 0n Wednesday.
The Italian saved seven of seven break points and converted 3 of 5 to win the one hour and 37 minute contest 6-3, 6-3.
The world no. 17 struck 28 winners and won 82% points on the back of his first delivery to defeat the Frenchman.
The Italian had begun his campaign with a 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 victory over Borna Gojo.
The two wins in the tournament are Musetti’s first two wins on grass. He had lost all four of his previous matches on the surface. This is the fifth time he is in the quarterfinals of a tour level event this year. Can he reach a second semifinal in the year, following his run to the final four in Barcelona.
Tiafoe v Musetti Prediction and Tip
Tiafoe is the better player on grass. He is more experienced and has enjoyed far more success on the surface than the Italian. Expect the American to reach the semifinals.
