Maiden Quarter-Final for Arnaldi

Although Arnaldi recorded his first Grand Slam win, and made his Masters debut this year, the Italian had never previously reached an ATP quarter-final. That is now another milestone that he can chalk-off his to do list.

And the Italian has reached this stage without being unduly bothered.

In his first round match he played the Dutch qualifier, Jesper de Jong, beating the world number 180 in straight sets, dropping his serve once as opposed to four for de Jong.

It was an all-Italian match next as he played Flavio Cobolli, the world number 148, and, again he took the first set without dropping his serve.

In the second set he had the chance to serve for the match outright, but was broken himself at the vital moment, and it was decided by a tie-break.

This time Arnaldi made no mistake, converting his first match point.

Lehecka Chasing First Title

Lehecka is chasing his first senior singles title in Croatia, although he was a beaten finalist in doubles at Queen’s Club this year.

And, as the top seed, he may not have a better chance to break his title duck,

Given a first round bye in Umag, he began his campaign with a match against Grand Slam winner, and former world number three. Dominic Thiem of Austria.

One break of serve midway through the first set proved to be enough for the Czech player who went on to claim it.

The pair swapped breaks midway through the second set, but then Thiem made the error of dropping his serve again.

Lehecka pounced on the opportunity to serve out.

Arnaldi v Lehecka Prediction and Tip

This week seems a golden opportunity for Lehecka to claim his first senior title, and he will not want to slip up against the Italian who he beat in their only previous meeting.

Tips:

  • Low Risk Tip: Lehecka to win: 5/7
  • Moderate Risk Tip: Over 23.5 games in the match: 5/4
