Kalieva Qualifies for Main Draw

US talent Elvina Kalieva is in the main draw of the Prague tennis event after winning two qualifying matches. The first one was a rather solid one 3-6 6-2 6-4 over Anna Siskova while the second one was 6-2 6-3 over Tayisiya Morderger.

She’s a really decent player that plays her best tennis on clay but as an American, she’s pretty good on hard courts too. Only six matches this year though with a 3-3 record overall. The overall record is 32-18 for the American who faces a tough test in the first round.

She playing a player who is really solid from the baseline and that’s going to be a bit of a problem for her. She’s pretty decent from the baseline too but I don’t think she’ll be able to hold her own against a pretty strong hitter in Noskova.

She also doesn’t have much experience on the WTA Tour and that could be a problem too. Facing a player that plays on native soil won’t help much. Her form has been pretty good though so that’s a positive.

Noskova Hoping for Home Soil Breakout

Linda Noskova played a really strong event in Warsaw getting to the quarter-final where she was beaten by Iga Swiatek 6-1 6-4. Beating the world number one was always going to be a pretty tough undertaking but the two wins she had were solid.

A 4-6 7-6(4) 6-3 over Jana Fett was followed up by a 6-3 6-3 win over Viktoria Hruncakova which was pretty solid. Noskova plays her best tennis on clay though she’s been pretty solid on hard courts this year. It comes from her playstyle which is pretty good for hitting.

She’s capable of holding her own against some of the best ball-strikers in the world holding a 23-15 record overall and an 11-5 record on hard courts.

That should suit her well back home in the Czech Republic. Her form has been pretty solid lately as well which si only a bonus.

Kalieva v Noskova Prediction and Tip

Noskova is the overwhelming favourite and I think she’ll get it done. The Czech player is at home and she’s the better player.

Tips:

  • Moderate Risk Tip: Noskova to win 2-0: 5/6
