Barbora Strycova is back to tennis and she hasn’t really missed a bit. A very good experience at Wimbledon in singles makes you feel really good about the veteran. Her doubles were always a known commodity but in this match, she’ll stand alone.
She defeated Maryna Zanevska in two sets 6-1 7-5 after which she lost to a very good Magda Linette 4-6 7-6(6) 6-3. Those are some pretty impressive results for the veteran and she’ll hope to do the same in her home country at the Prague Open.
Strycova only played nine matches in singles this year going 3-6 but she was pretty solid a few years ago when she played more regularly.
Being back on home soil should give her a boost and I do expect a really solid effort from her. It’s tough to say how far she can go but I think she should win this match. She’s got the experience.

Lucky Loser Spot for Raina
Ankita Raina had to play the qualifiers to book a spot and while defeated Amelie Smejkalova 6-3 6-2 in the first match, she was beaten in the second match easily by Dayana Yastremska 6-0 6-0. It showed her to be quite vulnerable against some good hitters.
That doesn’t mean good things against Strycova as the Czech player will certainly find some solutions to win rallies. Raina will need to play a really strong match, one I don’t think she can play.
Hard is her best surface with a 22-14 record this year but she’s facing a tough and experienced player in the Czech Republic.
A win would need a spectacular performance and I just don’t see it. There is very little indication that she’ll get it done especially since her form hasn’t been that great.

I think this is a rather simple win for Strycova in two sets.
